Most people travel to the region by car as this is the most flexible and rewarding way of exploring the mountains. If you’re looking for a ride, or can offer one, make sure you check out the Travel tips on the right hand side of this page.
The Festival is located in Perisher, approximately 17km from Jindabyne.
There is a fee for vehicles using Kosciuszko National Park, with entry stations on three of the main roads entering the park. The winter surcharge daily passes are $27 (NSW Pensioner Card-holders are exempt from this cost).
Overnight parking is not permitted at Perisher Resort and all vehicles (except 4WD) must carry chains and must display a valid NPWS permit.
For visitors travelling from afar, there are daily plane services into Canberra with car hire available. REX Airlines has now also commenced daily round trips between Sydney and Snowy Mountains (Cooma Airport). Reservations can be made on the web via www.rex.com.au, by phoning 13 17 13 or through your local travel agent.
A great alternative is to drive to Skitube, approximately 10km from Jindabyne on the Alpine Way. The Skitube is a safer option in regard to not needing chains, antifreeze for your car and delivers you directly to the Skitube Terminal building where the Festival Office and the Transport Team are located.
