Travelling by Car
Most people travel to the region by car as this is the most flexible and rewarding way of exploring the mountains. If you’re looking for a ride, or can offer one, make sure you check out the Travel tips on the right hand side of this page.
The Festival is located in Perisher, approximately 17km from Jindabyne.
There is a fee for vehicles using Kosciuszko National Park, with entry stations on three of the main roads entering the park. The winter surcharge daily passes are $29 from 10th June 2022 (NSW Pensioner Card-holders are exempt from this cost).
PEAK Festival has been advised (4.6.2019) that there will be NO OVERNIGHT parking at Smiggins AND Perisher due to the snow conditions. We are now advising anyone staying on-mountain during the festival, to travel via skitube.
A great alternative is to drive to Skitube, approximately 10km from Jindabyne on the Alpine Way. The Skitube is a safer option in regard to not needing chains, antifreeze for your car and delivers you directly to the Skitube Terminal building where the Festival Office and the Transport Team are located.

The Skitube is conveniently located a short drive from Jindabyne and provides free parking and the added benefit of avoiding the cost of hiring snow chains. Your Kosciuszko Park entry fee is also covered in your skitube ticket and the train delivers you right to the Festival Office where our Transport Team can shuttle you to your venue or accommodation.
Travelling in snow and cold weather can present some challlenges. If it’s your first time, we advise you to visit Snow Safe Australia website for how to prepare yourself and your car.
